Turkish Coffee Lady brews success with the Alexandria SBDC

Gizem Salcigil White started the Turkish Coffee Lady to foster conversations. With the Alexandria SBDC's help, Gizem found a location for her business in Old Town Alexandria. However, COVID-19 forced Gizem to close down temporarily. She applied for and received a Small Business Administration Restaurant Revitalization Fund grant of $215,000. Gizem says, “Alexandria SBDC Assistant Director Gloria Flanagan connected me with the right people to get the permits I needed.” Since opening in January 2022, The Turkish Coffee Lady's continued to grow. “I'm so grateful for the SBDC,” Gizem concludes. “Because the SBDC cared about me and my vision, I'm now able to pursue the dream I have for my business.”
