Tsehay is a restaurant that delivers high-quality foods and an authentic experience. Selam Gossa learned unique family recipes from her grandmother and prepared them daily in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of Washington, DC. Tsehay was initially located on Georgia Avenue. Once the COVID-19 pandemic hit, they struggled to keep their doors open because they realized that they needed a space that would allow them more flexibility to provide a unique service to drive more foot traffic to the restaurant. Tsehay DC also sought guidance from the DCSBDC for marketing and promotions as they envisioned creating an experiential restaurant that told a story through traditional Ethiopian flavors.

After two years of perseverance, Tsehay has secured a new, larger home in Adams Morgan, which opened in June 2023. Now, they have triple the number of seats and can accommodate more guests. With triple the number of seats, Tsehay can now create a more welcoming and spacious environment for guests, potentially leading to increased foot traffic and revenue. This expansion could also open up opportunities for Tsehay to host larger events, attract a broader customer base, and offer more services or menu options.
