Value Added Products Cooperative Obtains the GFSI Food Safety Certification

Value Added Products Cooperative is a dough manufacturer located in Alva. CEO Steve Sterling looked to the SBDC to help with the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) food safety audit. The business had relied heavily on school lunch contracts and, in 2020, was challenged by the complexities of supply, production, sales, and employment impacts. The 2020 food safety audit was delayed due to COVID-19, and the business needed the certification to meet customer expectations. With the help of Business Advisor Stephanie Baker, the business obtained the GFSI safety certificate for 2021 and 2022. “I was very proud of the entire team when we received an “A” rating and know our SBDC advisor played a huge part!” said Sterling.

RPX Technologies Expands Into International Markets

Michael Fox, CEO of RPX, a company focused on aviation, construction, and first responder technology, reached out to the Oklahoma SBDC at Wes Watkins Center for International Trade Development to pursue new global markets. Beginning with market entry research, the SBDC helped Fox contact potential Australian distributors to sell their optical technology used by emergency response teams. To prepare, Fox worked with the SBDC to gain information on resources pertaining to ITAR/EAR compliance. Summer of 2022, RPX finalized their deal with a distributor and attended a trade show in Australia to launch their product. "Thanks to the Oklahoma SBDC International Trade Center, we have been able to take our product beyond U.S. borders," said Fox.
